Research background

While studying its hydrophobic mechanism, researchers prepared rare earth oxide hydrophobic coatings on different substrates by template etching, spraying, hydrothermal, electrochemical deposition, atomic layer deposition and magnetron sputtering, which not only made the substrate hydrophobic, but also enhanced its corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

research status

Based on the summary of the research status of rare earth oxide hydrophobic coatings at home and abroad in recent years, the two different viewpoints of hydrophobic mechanism and various preparation methods are mainly introduced, and the follow-up research and application prospects are prospected.

Method overview

1. Spraying method

2. Hydrothermal method

3. Deposition method

Deposition methods can be divided into electrochemical deposition and atomic layer deposition. Electrochemical deposition is the use of electrochemical methods to polymerize cations in electrolyte solution to the cathode to form a coating. This method requires that the base material must have conductivity.

Future development

Exploring the hydrophobic mechanism of rare earth oxide hydrophobic coatings and developing process technologies suitable for large-scale production will be one of the important directions of the future development of rare earth oxide hydrophobic coatings.
